Hariom Sewa Kendra, established by Shri Chandra Prakash Rastogi ji, is an inspiring example of true social service.
Chand Prakash Rastogi ji was born into a simple family. His father sold clothes, and from childhood he developed a deep sense of helping others. Throughout his life, he remained devoted to service.
He began his service journey at the Durga Temple, where he provided medicines and clothes to the poor and the sick. Seeing their struggles, he continued helping them, and gradually his contribution to society grew.
Over time, he also volunteered in various departments of King George Medical University (KGMU). There, he understood the difficulties faced by poor patients, helped doctors, and assisted in arranging medicines. He also worked with the hospital’s free medicine distribution center.
Inspired by continuous service and compassion, he founded Hariom Sewa Kendra in 1997.
The purpose of this institution is to provide medicines to poor patients and arrange free meals for people admitted in hospital.
For nearly 27 years, he continuously served OPDs, emergency wards, and the needy and helpless.
People lovingly called Chand Prakash Rastogi ji “Babu ji.”
His kindness, simplicity, and dedication earned him great respect and a unique identity in society.
Although Babu ji is no longer with us, his spirit of service lives on. Hariom Sewa Kendra continues moving forward with the same dedication and compassion.
His life teaches us:
“Service is the truest form of worship.”
Even today, Hariom Sewa Kendra carries forward Babu ji’s sacred mission with devotion to humanity.
